History

The Salt Creek Quilters Guild was founded in September 1981 by a group of 37 women under the direction of Paula Buttel, the Guild's first president.

At the first meeting -- held at the LaGrange Public Library -- the Guild's name was chosen. The logo, designed by Helen Wiss, was adopted in May 1982. Bylaws were written in 1983.

Over the years, the Guild meeting location has changed six times to accommodate the growing membership.

The first quilt show, A Schoolhouse of Quilts, was held in the fall of 1986. Since that time, the Guild has hosted a quilt show biannually in the spring of even-numbered years.
